The car's story
Why I bought it
Aston Martin Vantage was deemed the perfect match. At 6’1”, I can stretch and not hit my head on the roof or bounce off the ceiling when I hit a bump in the road. Beyond that, my other non-negotiable requirement catered to my passenger princess -- the dog — and rest assured I’m not referring to my wife. Though she claims the shotgun seat. Our wirehaired Portuguese Podengo, Noel, fits perfectly on the middle glove box and back package tray. Both rided comfortably on the Sahara Tan interior, with the dog safely contained without temptation of leaping from a convertible to chase squirrels (the wife is not temped in that same way). We take this car out weekly as a date-night driver to dinner. Built during the Ford/Volvo ownership era, the quality is rock-solid. It makes a sleek shuttle to dinner in New Baltimore or Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe. I enjoy the exhaust note, the whirring belts and gears, and Swan Wing doors that swing slightly up wards to clear high curbs. I’ll keep it until I’m too old to drive.
